Required gear for urban warfare: Silly String
Posted by massnerder on December 2, 2006
Time Magazine is reporting on an unusual use for Silly String:
Stratford, N.J., mom Marcelle Shriver recently got a call from her son Todd requesting … Silly String. Marines working with his unit in Iraq had shown the Army combat engineer how it can be used to detect trip wires.
I also found another report of this use of Silly String from a year ago.
This is great. I can totally see this being true.

Two entries in 3 days? A veritable flood after a long drought. What gives?
BTW, when the enviromentalists get wind of this new tactic, there may be some criticisms levelled: they’ve tried to get people at weddings to avoid using silly string as it isn’t biodegradable.

Well, I cut back on some other stuff and am refocusing myself. Who knows how long it will last?
Anyway, I’d say war, itself, is pretty harsh on the environment. I seriously doubt the protests of environmentalists would have any effect on soldiers trying to save their lives or those of their fellow soldiers.
